Chris played men’s basketball for four years from 2002-2006; during this four-year time span, the team was going through a transition of coaches. He was the glue in keeping the basketball program together during these years of change. Jim Ford became the head men’s basketball coach in 2005 and took over the helm in Chris’s senior season. Coach Ford vividly remembers Chris’s leadership, both on and off the court; reminiscing on how Chris would keep his teammates motivated and working hard. Chris was a solid leader as Team Captain, member of the All-Conference Team, 1,000 point scorer, solid rebounder, true sportsman and outstanding student in Justice Studies. Coach Ford notes, “Chris was a kind and focused student-athlete who always represented UMA in a dignified way on the court, in the community and now as a distinguished Detective for the City of Augusta.” Chris is still involved with UMA Athletics as he returns each year to play in the UMA Athletics Annual Golf Tournament Fundraiser. After graduating from UMA in 2006 he was hired by the Augusta Police Department. Chris worked as a patrol officer for almost 3 years before being promoted to Detective in 2009. He spent the first 3 ½ years as a detective assigned to the Maine Drug Enforcement as a resident special agent. In 2012 Chris was sworn into the Moxie Initiative with the FBI investigating pharmacy robberies. He then converted to a more typical detective roll investigating a larger range of different crimes. In 2018 he was promoted to Patrol Sergeant and supervise a crew of 3 officers on the mid night shift.
