Under Laney's leadership, the Lady Moose earned three bids to the USCAA National Tournament, including the first in UMA history for the women's basketball team. She had an overall record of 134-85 (0.612), coached three YSCC Players of the Year, netted one YSCC regular season championship, and her teams made seven YSCC final four appearances. Laney coached seven 1,000 point scorers including Ashely Peaslee, Katie Poirier, Jennifer Lola, Arreonte Lee, Jamie Plummer, Darby Toth, and Cailtin LaFountain. Coach Laney was named YSCC Coach of the Year in 2011, 2015, and 2018.

Laney took over at the helm of the Moose athletic department in 2015. She serves as both the Athletic Director and the Director of Student Life at UMA. During her time as Athletic Director at UMA, she has been instrumental in advancing the athletic department in the areas of academic success, athletic achievement, and community service. Serving as the chair of the athletic strategic planning committee, Laney has provided vision for growth and development for the department. During her six years as Athletic Director, she has grown the sport offerings with the addition of men's and women's track and field, implemented the UMA Athletics Hall of Fame, and was instrumental in overseeing the major renovations for a new student-athlete lounge.

Over the past six years, the Moose teams have received seven bids to USCAA National Tournaments and honored three USCAA National Student-Athletes of the Year; Keith Chesley (2015), Carmen Bragg (2018), Noah Thompson (2019). In 2016, Laney implemented a partnership with Team Impact in which the men's and women's basketball teams signed two children, a brother and sister with cystic fibrosis, to join their teams. It was for these efforts that the Moose earned the YSCC Community service honor in 2019.

While at UMA, Laney has also served as the Vice President for the Yankee Small College Conference (YSCC). In 2020, Laney was named the USCAA Garth Pleasant Honorary Athletic Director of the Year.
